Nokia N-Gage

Check the dumping hardware overview for a list of known preservation hardware.

If you need help, please come chat with us on the VGPC or No-Intro discord servers.

This section should have a short description or overview, such as:

Dumping System X carts is fairly easy, and if you already have Hardware X, only a few modifications are required.

or

Dumping System Y discs is quite involved, and requires specialized hardware and software.

[todo:

  1. does dd work?
  2. supposedly this is good for some cards https://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/

]

Numbered list of methods, with the top one being the most preferred/used method

  1. Compatible SD reader and aaru PC software
  2. Compatible SD reader and unknown Siemens tool
  3. Dumping loose files

his can make an aaruf file, which you can extract metadata from, plus the disk image and CID, CSD and OCR data (some of the last three are needed to emulate/bypass DRM?). Doesn't work on some cards [which?]. usually its built-in sd readers that are compatible, not usb ones (e.g. the one built into the raspberry pi [which model?])

Unknown if the same SD readers are required as aaru or if more/less are compatible. Supposed to work with cards that can't be dumped using aaru. Maybe doesn't allow for retrieving the special data nor metadata like aaru can? But there is a homebrew tool that can be used to dump the CID data?

Using homebrew on an N-Gage? Files should match those extracted from a proper disk image made using aaru.

Indicate whether the game version/revision info can be determined through ring codes, label stamping, printed on chips, embedded in ROM etc

Once you've dumped your games, it's time to generate and submit metadata to a preservation project for validating and cataloging. See the dump submission instructions for more information.
